I recently just upgraded from a 20 gallon tank to a 75 but have not set it up yet, I was wanting to get suggestions from you guys before I did. I was looking into getting a Marineland Bio-Wheel Emperor 400 Aquarium Power Filter and Penn Plax Cascade 1200 Canister Aquarium Filter with a Aqueon Aquarium Circulation Pump 950GPH. Is this too much or is there better? Please let me know.

Here is the links to the filter and circulation pump

Hello Maj...

Save your money and invest in a couple of dual sponge filters. They'll do as good a job of filtering the water as the high end filters. No filter does a good job of keeping the tank water clean anyway. They all take in toxic water and return the water to the tank just a little less toxic. A dual sponge filter will cost $10.00 each and spend $40.00 on a good air pump to run the sponges. All you need to do is change out half the tank water every week. If you do this more often, you can eliminate the filtering system altogether and just run a length of plastic tubing to the bottom of the tank to add a little more oxygen to the water. This will save you some real money and you can get a couple of really nice fish with the savings.

Hi I also got a 75 in December. I have two Marineland HOB. One emperor 400 and One penguin 350. I also have a sponge filter. I am over filtrated! But I have poop machines! Platys and a common pleco. I suggest you look into what kind of fish your wanting and find out what bioload you'll have. I like my HOBS. The emperor is nice cause it has way more room for media. And you can't go wrong with a sponge filter. Super cheap and really sucks up the gunk.

Thanks everyone!! I got the 2 filters I posted but not the circulation pump. I will be adding cichlids to my tank and I know there dirty so I decided to get those 2 filters and a sponge filter. I got another circulation pump for cheap on Amazon and it comes with 2 it’s 800GPH

SUN Microsystems JVP Series Submersible Circulation Powerhead Pump, 800 GPH, 2 Piece https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YYIHGVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AMewCb74F5Y4F

All good filters listed above. I like my canister filters for Cichlids. I use Fluval but they are spendy. Another good canister filter is Aquatop Forza models. Good price too.
