Need some help nitrates are at 80 nitrites show 1 oh between 8-8.5 and kh 240?
Anyway to lower my trates I feed every other day.

1 three striped damsel
1 Colombian shark
A bunch of hermit crabs and snails.

A 25-50' Python. lol

Nothing I know of works better than that. You can use a filter sock along with lots of flow in the main tank to help trap and remove detritus. There really isn't an invertebrate that consumes enough of it to replace vacuuming. Not that I know of at least.

Tested water today and got weird results. Zero trates and trites. Ph 8.2. And .25-.50 ammonia. How is there ammonia with no trates or trites??

That's really strange. Maybe you accidentally added more drops or something. Maybe your test kit has gone bad...or you weren't testing correctly before?

Very good. Don't forget to follow the directions to the letter and really shake the tar out of your solution 2 bottle for nitrates (if it's API). It's a pain but definitely effects the accuracy.

Why are their two different results for the same dates? How old is the system as of today? Ammonia should've gone down.

The one with 80 nitrates is for my 80 the other is my 30. The skimmer is about a month or so old.
