African cichlid tank temperature

Hi guys, my tank was originally about 77 degrees. I then went to pick up my fish and the man there told me it should be 80 degrees. But I went to pick up some fish from another person today and he told me it needed to be 86 degrees to breed. Is this true? I am only just starting breeding and know all the stuff I need to do but I didn't know it had to be that hot for them to breed. Thanks

I keep mine at 80 all the time. Most people keep them a little lower but 80 works for me. They higher you go the sorts life your fish will have

I keep mine between 78-80, usually add it a little cooler during water changes. Very rarely above 82.
