My tank water is green from algae I belive. The tank is only 8 weeks old but its been hot as anything in the room where the tank is so algae grew quick. The stuff I got to fix it is tetra algae control it say not to use on tank that have not been running for 3 months. Should I still use it? If not then what do I do?

I would do 3-4 30% water changes a week until the water clears. You can add the chemicals but it's up to you :)

A UV sterilizer will also clear your water. They have some smaller submersible ones now that work pretty well. Just be sure to keep the bulb clean.
