Not sure if this is the right place to put this but... I have a 5 gallon tank cycling, I was using 2 glofish to cycle, but one died :banghead: . The water parameters are as follows: ammonia- 0.25ppm nitrite- 4ppm nitrate- 50ppm. Yesterday, the same day as the test, some algae appeared. It is green and smooth on the side of the tank. The lighting is currently 10 hrs. a day because of my live plants. :thanks: for the help.

The fish death probably your nitrite. Do you know how to do a water change?

The algae is from too much light. Cut it down to 8 hours.

What kind of light is it?
I agree with the water parameter issue. You should do water changes until nitrite and ammonia are below .5 ppm.

I know, I did a ton of water changes when he was sick. He died while there was still really high ammonia though.

BTW the light is a 50/ 50 something. The only markings are A 04- 10
