We scrubbed the rocks and rinsed with hot water but it got a bit cloudy still. Hopefully it will clear up

Thanks. It's nice and sturdy. They like the caves. Hopefully it clears up soon.

Was your tank done cycling? Make sure you test your water. That's a lot of fish to put in after two weeks. You don't want to lose any right off the get go.

It stayed at 4ppm for over three or 4 weeks. My bro and parents were getting pretty annoyed that it wasn't even close to ready so we emptied all the water and got the ammonia out. I went and got some seachem stability and put that in for 4 days then yesterday put rocks and fish in. Just gonna do a fish in cycle and keep up with ammonia and water changes.

Ok, you sound like you are ready, good job. You might be a little bit overstocked, but that is usually a good thing with Africans. Good luck.

One suggestion. If you can, try and move the filter over more, away from the heater.

Reason? You will agitate a more central location then just the far left side :)

Just a thought...

Ok I will try that. I was thinking of maybe running two 50's?? Another thing, when anyone walks up to the tank the fish go and hide in the caves. Unless its dark in the house. Will they eventually stop being shy?

They also turn and rub on the rocks every now and then. Is that normal for cichlids?
Here's a good pic. We did a water change and its a lot clearer. Ammonia was at .4 or .5. pH is 8.2 everything else 0
