I really want plants in my tank. What would be hardy enough to survive cichlids and medium to low lighting?

Anubias and crypts are hardy and tough leaved plants that can stand up to the abuse of cichlids.

Any Cichlids I ever owned would have uprooted anything in the tank...I got rid of all mine before I got plants..thought it would have been a disater;)

Most SA Dwarf cichlids are fine, including apistos, rams, and angels. Some SA can be hit and miss, such as keyholes, but others are almost always incompatible with plants, such as oscars. As a very generalized rule (ie, lots of exceptions), Africans will not work with plants.

Just thought I'd add nannacara anomala and curviceps to that list. :)
