I got a smallerish crayfish from my friends pond and I decided to put it in with my betta Ina 10 gal tank. Anything I should know or shouldn't do about them? Any advice would be appreciated.
A wild-caught crayfish? I would be concerned about disease or parasites. And do you know the species? It could possibly be able to harm your betta or your betta might attack him.
If your friends pond has been established for awhile and it's had a healthy population of crayfish then your chances of contaminating your aquarium are minimal. Most diseases invertebrates carry will only affect other inverts. There are exceptions though. As long as your crayfish is a good bit smaller than your betta he should be safe just monitor the situation for awhile
And it's a male betta. And I've had him in a community tank before and he showed little aggression. I had to move him because he was getting picked on.
