I was just wondering why some sharks have this and some don't?

I've had sharks in the past that don't have it then all of a sudden one gets a white tip

I bought a shark today from a very good aquarium store and he has a white tip??

All answers and questions welcome :)

Mine also has white kinda clear tip. He didn't have it when i got him. Not until he was about a year old. Scared me a little when i first seen it, thought it was some fungus. But he is over 2 years old with same white markings. Not sure of the cause but must be common. I've always wondered the same thing.

What do fish say when they hit a wall? ...... Dam!

Yea the same thing happened to mine a few years ago and I kind of come to the conclusion that it was an age thing but this shark I bought today is tiny!! About an inch and it has it already.....

I hear it is very common on the females. Mine is a male and never got a white tip.

Just the natural colour on healthy specimens. Don't think it is sex linked. Lots of pics on google images show the white tip
