Eletric Yellow Labs and Acei Cichlids In A 55 Gallon?

Okay, I have a 55 gallon planted aquarium with a pleco, pictus catfish and african leaf fish. Would I be able to add some lab and acei cichlids and maybe anther pictus catfish?

How many can I add? How can I check their gender because I keep reading that there needs to be more females then males to lower aggression. I also need to know if there hardy fish, I don't wont fragile fish.

So my aquarium would have theses fish:
Amount Fish
1 African Leaf Fish
2 to 3 Pictus Catfish
1 Pleco
? Acei Cichlids
? Lab Cichlids

Well all Africans are hardy fish.. That doesn't mean they are invincible though.

Your planted tank's parameters would be way off for any Old World cichlids to require specific parameters.

Now, I know yellow labs and Acei are known as some of the more peaceful AC's but they still wouldn't get on in a community tank.

Unless you get an unbelievably docile fish I really wouldn't advise it.

The pleco would be fine in with AC's, they often mix together in tanks.

Also AC's (especially Mbuna) are known for being territorial, IF you were to add one, it would find its spot in the tank and if anything entered, it would get chased and harassed until death.

Don't know the compatibility of those fish but to get certain ratios m:f buy double the amount of juvenile fish and then remove the males as they become older

Yellow labs and acei will get along fine together. Note though, that acei can grow up to 7" and a few acei in a 55g will get crowded eventually.
