Favorite substrate

What is your favorite substrate for plants, and black panda corys?

I don't have corys. I keep kuhli's. But I have been very happy with Quartz pool filter sand, Garnet sand (inert and used for water filtration) and Tahitian Moon Sand.

I add root tabs under the sand to feed the plants.

Isnt garnet sand abrassive.

This isn't blast media. It's for water filtering and it feels fine to the touch. Khuli's bellies have no sights of irritation after 8 months on it.
