So what about an RSS feed on the site? But instead of the user getting every single post coming through the feed, the user could sign up by forum, category, or by keyword?

I would LOVE that feature. Not familiar with vBulletin that much but I thought I saw some plugins for phpBB that did exactly that. Actually, I just googled vBulletin and RSS feeds and it came up with a tutorial and everything. I'm not sure how modified vBadvanced is but it might work.
