Fish per inch rule, does this apply to inverts?

Fish per inch rule, does this apply to inverts? I only have a 10 gal. set up for my Salt water fish, since I have such limited space I only have two small fish. A blue damsel and a yellow-black cromis. I am wondering if the fish per inch thing matters for Hermit Crabs or Snails. I just bought some new live rock and am seeing all sorts of cool things crawling out. I believe they are slugs which I have three of now, a couple of anomies and a few feather dusters. I don't want all of this to hurt my fish.

No inverts are freebies. The 1" per gallon of water applies to freshwater and 1" of fish per 5 gallon for salt. However not everyone follows these rules, chk out this poll... http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=50482 You'll be fine just chk for amonia and nitrate spikes.
