friends for my betta?

He is in a 10 gallon planted tank with a whisper 10i filter. There are also about 5 ghost shrimp, a nerite (I think) and gold mystery snail.
I just think I want to add something to up the activity level because he just hides in the plants a alot.
What could I add? Open to suggestions of both fish and inverts. Was thinking cherry shrimp but got some warnings about it.

Looked up crayfish and I'm afraid he'll kill all the shrimp and have a go at my betta. I still want one cuz they have really cool electric blue ones at a store near me but I might set something else up for one.

Maybe 3 Pygmy Cories or a few Neons

I would say about 5-6 neons. The crayfish would be a very bad idea.

I think you could try some ghost shrimp.

I have about 5 ghost shrimp in there that he doesn't bother so I think he's pretty docile
I mentioned rcs with him on a different thread and many people told me it would be a bad idea because they are so small and bright, he might eat or attack them but I dunno. I might try it out anyway because I think they'd look gorgeous against the black sand. Or blueberry shrimp?

If he doesn't eat the Ghost Shrimp I'm pretty sure he will leave the RCS alone. 10 RCS would look amazing but be kinda expensive.
