I'm starting a betta tank in my 40g and I want to put harlequin rasborias and neons would that work...and another question should I have a heater and if so what temp

i imagine that would work,although neons can be nippy.in a decent school you shouldnt have to worry about that though.


you definitely need a heaater,all those fish are tropical. bettas like around 80,not sure about the others though

Definitely get the heater, I do not see why those fish would not work. Some bettas can be extra grumpy so keep an eye on that.

They should go fine together. Keep the temperature around 22-25oc.
If the tank is not for breeding then why not get a centerpiece like a German Blue Ram?
