I have had my tank set up for about a week. The only stock I have in it are three zebra hermits, a peppermint shrimp and a couple of snails. I am starting to see more long, white strands of something. They also appear to be webbed or tangled together. I am assuming its some type of hair algae. If it is what can be done about it?

Picture would help, it could be snails laying eggs. Or could be spaghetti worms. As far as I know, algae isn't usually white. Post a pic and we can help better.

I have some white stringy stuff waving in the current also. It comes out of my live rock. Not sure what it is either. My tanks 7months old and the white stringy stuffs been there for about 5 months now

Could be. I'm honestly not certain. I get that sometimes too where it looks like snail egg strands and sand mixes together, I don't pay much attention to it really. Mine usually goes away shortly after appearing.
