Hair algea , any suggestions on what to do?

My levels are good but the tank is still new. Noticed there was that lovely ( insert sarcasm here) hair growing on everything. I was wondering how to get rid of it, although my husband does love it!

How long do u keep your lights on?

I kept mine on for 9-12 hours and it caused so much hair algae. Then I kept the lights off for a shorter time and I can see it takes longer for it to grow.
