Hi guys I’m new here and I need help. My betta fish has these lumps on its side and damaged tail but I dont know why. I’ve had him for a little over a year and he was fine until about may. May is when I noticed he had a small scratch like thing on his side and since then it’s just gotten worse. I dont know what it is or what to do. Can someone please help me. Here are some pics that show what it looks like

So what can I do to help him ? I saw at petco they had “bettafix” drops should I try that?

Pristine water will help more than medication. Whats your water change schedule?

I dont have any knowledge of the particular medication you mention, but it looks like a natural remedy rather than medication. It does say it treats the type of issue so might be worth a try if clean water isnt cutting it. Note it says not safe for snails, so be careful if you have any invertebrates. Im from UK so we have different medication here, and dont have access to the medications commonly recommended by people who have access to USA medications.

I have had success treating that kind of skin/fin issues with Esha2000. Again be careful if you have inverts in there. That product claims to be snail safe, but i have had some snails die while treating tanks with it.

Thank you sooo much ! I usually do a 25% water change about every month to two month whatever I have time to do. I just did about a 75% water change this time so we’ll see if that helps if not, since I’m from the US, I’ll see if I can get my hands on that medication that you had mentioned for him and see if that helps. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me and help me. I’ll keep you updated. Also I don’t have snails just two kahlua loachs so I’d assume they would be safe right?

I would up the water changes, maybe do a 25% daily water change for a few weeks while he is healing up. Monthly water changes isnt really enough and poor water quality won't be helping the healing process. Change some water weekly under normal circumstances.
