How do I lower NITRITE levels quickly???

Personally I don't know of any other way except via large pwc's.
 
ammo lock is decent, but it will take a little time. There is also a product line called AmQuel that reduces ammonia nitrite and nitrate. It is an awsome product, and I recommend its use.
 
High nitrite levels can be dealt with by the use of salt in the water (reduces toxicity) and lowering the water level to create splashing and thereby raising O2 levels. Water changes help, as you mention.

You want to protect the fish but you don't want to remove the ammonia and nitrite completely, because you will starve your bacteria that you are trying to grow, so I'd recommend avoiding the use of chemicals to "remove" these properties from your tank water.
