There has been a suggestion I think that some servers? are fine running it and some not. I've been fine using it in Australia while it has been crashed in the US so it's been pretty strange. I also don't know why someone would hack that site ( disgruntled fish keepers aside!).

55g with Rena Filstar XP2
1x Kissing Gourami
1x Bristlenose Pleco
1x Rainbow Shark

Note: Kissing Gourami needs driftwood.
Warning: Kissing Gourami is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 11 inches.
Note: Bristlenose Pleco needs driftwood.
Note: Rainbow Shark may jump - lids are recommended.

Recommended temperature range: 71.6-78.8 F.
Recommended pH range: 6 - 7.8.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 151%.
Recommended water change schedule: 18% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 69%

I still change 50% weekly. Haven't tested nitrates in a couple weeks, have no idea what they are, but according to this "low" comes to mind. pH is buffered with crushed coral, keeps stable every time I check it.

Glad it's back on line - A very helpful tool

My 29 & 38 gallon tanks (full descriptions in my profile) are both about 100% stocked based on actual size of fish and have plenty of filtration capacity.

The site is a great tool ..... and it's not suppose to be a "bible." I have found it to be especially helpful in the categories of temperature range, quantities of the same type fish, warnings about long term effect of fish growing to full size, and fish that may not get along with each other.

When I went back to my LFS to get more dojo loaches because the site said they are best in groups, the proprietor said "gosh, I'd never heard of that." Interesting, I always check out what aqadvisor tells me and if I go to liveaquaria.com or wiki or something similar, I find that the information tends to be quite accurate.

I think this is one of its strongest points, the filtration capacity is a decent calculation, except the wcs calculation gets skewed if you theorize an additional filter because of your added capacity. Nitrate buildup is buildup regardless of additional filters.

I wish it would list the maximum sizes of the species it has calculated as "adult"

Darn ....... the site is down again

June 11 at 5:52 CST ..... cannot access it from Florida using either internet explorer or Chrome.

This time it just takes you to a blank page.

Anyone know what's going on ?

If you're running Windows, download the Microsoft Scanner. I wasn't otherwise affected, but it turns out I had a password sniffing Trojan. Twitter was the only thing that had been noticeably compromised (they were spamming porn links and sending porn links to my contacts...Like, to my mom....lovely).

That's the exact same issue I've been having. It doesn't happen every time or for specific tank configurations. If it happens I sometimes can get the site back by refreshing, or by hitting back and attempting to redo the change I was making, but not always. It will usually happen at least once per complex or large tank I'm trying to test out :(

That's the issue I'm having now as well. I initially was being redirected, then it worked for a few days, now I'm having this issue.

20 Long #1 with two Eheim Ecco 2232 canisters
7 Serpae Tetras
7 Gold Tetras
2 Bumblebee Catfish (SA)
1 BN Pleco
1 Mystery snail
Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 197%.
Recommended water change schedule: 35% per week (I do 50%).
Your aquarium stocking level is 84%
Hmmm... maybe I'll increase the tetra schools some. There is a pretty large piece of driftwood that takes up a fair amount of swimming room though.

20 Long #2 with a Fluval U2 Internal and a Aqueon AT40 Internal
7 Harlequin Rasboras
7 Panda Cories
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 BN Pleco
Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 224%.
Recommended water change schedule: 31% per week. (I do 50%)
Your aquarium stocking level is 78%

For some reason the nitrates in this tank get significantly higher than the other, despite it having less fish and way more live plants. Ive adjusted the feeding schedule some. If I start seeing a significant nitrate reduction, I may add some more Harlequins.

Is there a significant difference in the age of the tanks?

Last time I checked it was around 80% Stocked and 700% Filtration.

When it's done though it will be 200% Stocked and 200% Filtration.
