jewel cichlid

So i have 2 jewels but the last couple days both have been in a corner on the gravel laying there i have other cichlids in tank and no weird activity with them
Are they mating? I dont no how to sex them

I also dont see anything going on



Ive tested water and everything is perfect

Its hard to tell in the picture but did they dig a pit in the gravel. If so there may be eggs

Are they dull and washed out? If so, it looks like they're being picked on.
If they were breeding, they'd be in full glorious breeding colors.
