Sometimes, which I lift the hood to feed my fish, I notice these tiny white bugs jump away from where I opened the hood. I usually see just 3 or 4, and they really are tiny... I don't even know what size they are to compare them to anything. But they really are just little specks. Any idea what these are? Where they came from? Anything? (It's a 55 gallon tank, planted with a few low light plants)

Do you have Ghost Shrimp in the tank? It could be larvae, but most likely it's probably just some kind of freshwater mite, nothing to be concerned about.

either copepods, cyclops, or daphnia. Or some sort of water mites.

The fish might eat them, if they ever go in the water.
