I have heard comments on here along the lines that it is pointless to buy Live sand. Baiscally most of what makes sand live has died off by the timeit reaches your tank. I understand that over a period of time my sand will become live. SO my question is, is it better to cut your losses and not get Live and just wait. Maybe spending more money on Uncured LV rock vs LV sand? Will my sand become live as my uncured rock cures?

Save your money and get more lr, as you said the sand will become "live" within time.

Agreed, you can get dry reef sand from the fish store and spend the saved money on more LR. Ask the LFS for a couple of cups of LS from an existing reef tank to seed your sand be with.
