My beta just ate another fish!!!!!!!!!

As a general rule of thumb, any fish that will fit in another fish's mouth will usually end up there. Even fish that don't fit sometimes do. Bettas can often times be territorial and don't always tolerate tank mates. Even if they're not hungry, they could kill another fish to protect their territory (the tank). Some bettas are calm and can be kept with other tankmates with no problems, not even when kept with much smaller fish, but not all.

I'm confused why you would put any fish in with a betta when you previously recommended to others not to do so.

Bettas have huge 'landing-ramp' mouths.What fish was it?
 
They are aggressive and that's what Bettas do.

Also depends on personality of the betta. Mine never even harassed my red cherry shrimp. I have a very well behaved, gentle betta lol
