New to cichlids.

I've never had cichlids before. But I've always wanted them.
I'm not sure what rules I should go by when stocking a tank.
I'm thinking about a 29 gal tank.
I've been told several things. Like to over stock the tank. (But I know that's not right) then to under stock and slowly add a few fish.
But I'm not sure.

What kind of cichlids are you interested in? Generally you would want to overstock an African cichlid and understock south/ central American cichlids.

Have you checked out peacock cichlids?
