Aquarium Advice FINatic
I'm a few weeks into a fish in cycle in my bettas 10 gallon tank. Recently the Ph has been crashing frequently. My taps true Ph is 7.6, when I do pwcs it barely goes up to 6.5 in the tank and takes WILD swings.
Today I got to thinking. I didn't want to spend $20 on crushed coral so I pondered what else I could do when it dawned on me. In my cichlids tank I have a buffering sand substrate. I took a few cups from my main tank, and placed it into my bettas tank. Sure enough, within the hour the Ph rose from about 6.0 to 7.6. I was really surprised how well it worked. However I'm a little concerned about the rapid climb. Is this going to hurt my betta?
