mr_X said:What kind of shark are you thinking of for this 300 cylinder? Nothing but cat sharks will work for that. If you want a free swimming shark like a black tip reef shark, you are going to need something about 3000 gallons, not 300.
mr_X said:Oh. Then I would keep the rock work to a minimum and leave a lot of room for the shark to cruise the bottom. Keep most of the rock in the sump.
Here was a 5000 gallon tank at a store that's pretty close to me. They had black tip reef sharks in this tank, and they would have to re-home them on a regular basis. So, scratch my original statement of 3000 gallons. Perhaps add yet another zero.
JustinKBreen said:Rays would love a cylinder tank like that too. I like how you are planning this out with the sharks interest in mind as opposite those who try to stick them in a 120 or something.
Innovator said:Not to say they won't, but I've yet to personally see any tang show interest in rays. Angelfish are another story, however.
I have a marbled cat shark now and it eats any shrimp I put in there and it try's to eat my dog face puffer everyday
