Plants for a Cichlid tank

Hey,

Looking for tall skinny plants that when in my new tank will bend and create a cover. Checked Petco and Petsmart noone seems to have them. Any suggestions?

It's always hard adding plants with those types of cichlids. I would recommend the following:

-Java Fern
-Bolbitus
-Anubias
-Jungle Val

Just as a side note there is little no plant life on the "reefs" in the lakes.

Yea, the only plants in the lake is some type of Val in the shallows.

What about floating plants?? Thats where most will end up any way right?

Floating plants can be used with mixed results. I've used them and my fish tended to shred the roots which broke off all those little "feathery" pieces that clogged the intake of my filters.

Yes very true, I suggested Jungle Val ( Vallisneria americana) just because they are allot more robust. I have had issues growing Val in the higher ph / hardness degrees. There is a Val from Lake Tanganyika that does well in the higher PH, it however can be harder to find.
