Please help ID 2 objects

The LR has several patches of what looks like some type of white mass. Its not soild but on the soft side. Pic Rock 2-1

In Pic Rock 1-1 there are 2 holes circled. There is something in these holes. What ever is in the smaller hole looks like what is in the larger hole. What ever is in the larger hole never comes out but if you walk by or try to get a good look at it it goes back farther into the hole.

The bottom one looks like a sponge, can't tell on the other.

The thing that moves back into the hole, does it have beady eyes?

I might be seeing things but that thing looked almost like a mantis in the shadows.
