please help identifying rescued fish

I want to say a poorly kept earth eater cichlid, or something along the geophagus family just because of the shape of the head, but I just can't be 100%.
 
You'll need a big tank. It's a red bay snook, Petenia splendida. Large cichlid, among the largest, at 20" or maybe a bit more. Never kept one, so not sure just how big it will get in an aquarium, but I'd guess 16"+ is not unreasonable if treated well. Aggressive, active piscivore.
