Well my tank is only about 2 months old but I am nearly done planting it. There are still a couple of blank spots but a little time should take care of that too. ;)

Its been a while since i've put my big one up. I've planted more at th efront, i found it was pretty bare. I just keep knocking it down and planting it horisontal to make a "ground cover" plant. :p

looking good jason. nice flow to the tank. i think a big chunk of driftwood on the right would look sweet. what kind of light u got on that thing?

the lighting is CRAPPY, i have mix matched light fixtures, lol. I have
1-- 40w CF fixture
1-- 26w CF fixture
1-- 25w tube flourecent fixture

They seem to grow plants pretty well, and all are economic bulbs, so all is well.

I plan on getting some driftwood, it is just too expensive though, i dont like the "11 bucks for a chunk the size of your hand" idea I have some out in my gardens which i will probably put it. I plan of finding a buch next summer too, our family is big into boating, and we are getting a new boat next summer, so we will use it probably every weekend. There is an island off the shore of my town with nice beaches (my brother drives the ferry frommy town to the island) and lots of wood.

If you want tond of pics you can follow my log:

General concensus on the grass is that it's Cyperus helferi. There was no tag on it, but several independants have come to the same conclusion.

All my pictures are up in the gallery here. They might give a better look, as they're much larger than the thumbnail I posted here. :D

heres a new shot of my tank at about 4 or 5 weeks from planting. It's coming along :)

I thought i'd add a old photo of the tank when it was newly set up, as a contrast shot.

Is that a red background, or is it the color leaching out of the driftwood? I've recently added a piece of mopani wood, which i soaked in repeated changes of boiling hot water for hours until the water ran clear. I then put the wood in my tank. This morning? Water thats that color. :)

I threw in an activated carbon pack and I figure after a few PWCs it should be back to a more neutral color.

The red is the wall behind the tank :D i just painted my room and thought red would be a warmer colour over the winter months lol
infact i was after some black card to stick on the back of the tank to highlight the plants.
But i hear whatbeing said :) i kind like the red back also, its the first warm red backing i've seen and think it works well to bring the tank together. like Mr Functastic said, once the plants fill in a little more ;)

Ok, I did change mine around a bit...guess that qualifies. :)
What's the big bushy plant on the left? I have three (one is about that huge) and I have no idea what they are. They're cool, though.

You're tank looks awesome! I'll post pics of mine this weekend :)
