Preparing Dead Coral Skelletons for Insertion

Hi all,

About two weeks ago a coral of mine died and has been sitting outside in the sun/rain wheathering. I want to put it back into the tank as even though it is dead, its skelleton is rather nice to look at.

What process should I go through to safely re-insert it into the tank? I want to ensure that it doesn't introduce any diseases or modify the levels in my tank (ammonia, nitrate, phosphates, etc).

The coral was a fairly small frogspawn coral.

I suppose you could boil it. (No personal experience here, just a thought...)

The coral skeleton will evolve into LR after a while. It will become covered in coraline algae and other algae. It will not look like the skeleton it is today. If you want to admire it as it is, display it outside the tank. If you want more LR structure, put in in the tank.

I do want more live rock in the tank, and I like the look of "evolving" things in the tank. I will put it in, but what should I do to prepare it for safe entry into the tank?
