I just noticed one of my ramshorn snails has this funky substance on its body. Could someone tell me if it is eggs maybe, even though they have laid eggs all over my tank and they look nothing like the jelly like sacs on my aquarium glass, or something more sinister?

Probably just the water eating away at their shells. If your tank is very acidic and the hardness is low then hat can happen. Some tanks jus don't have the right environment for proper shell growth/maintenance. Who cares though ramshorn snails are a pest to most people. I have hundreds of snails spread throughout my various tanks and fo the most part they are a pain in the butt.

Oh wait! You mean clump of stuff that looks like a disintegrating algae wafer? I have no idea what that is!
