What are your nitrates and phosphates those are usually the cause. How often are you doing water changes, water changes will help alot also try to suck out as much as you can when you do water changes.

if its a velvet red its Cyano and all i did was reduce my feedins to 3x a week and sucked all all i can with water changes, thats it, i was good after that.

Phosphate is a Lil high and I try to do a 20 gallon water change like every three weeks on my 90 gal. Thanks for the advice guys

I get cyano when I overfeed so possibly cut that back...as for me it some of it dies off at night and grows back to larger amounts through out the day so best time for water change is morning to siphon so you can siphon it away before it grows.
