salinity levels

so got my tank setup. live rock and base rock as well as live sand. it's only been cycling about 4 days now but each time I check the salinity it's at a different level. sometimes too high and sometimes almost too low. is this normal for a new tank? just want to check

Yep, wait till it cycles....

Salinity should not change unless you are losing alot of water due to evaporation, which will cause salinity to rise, or if you add freshwater which will cause salinity to drop.
What are you using to measure your salinity?

using a hydrometer right now. really not losing any from evap.

Hydrometers can be extremely inaccurate. I highly suggest you invest in a refractometer for more precise measurements.
