sand vs. gravel and planaria

I heard from someone today that with a sand substate, planaria are unable to burrow underneath. (They do have basic movement) and with gravel, they can wiggle all into the crevices. Any truth to this?
I will say I've never seen planaria in a sand tank

The substrate is irrelevant since this is caused by overfeeding and poor maintenance.

I realize that's the cause, I was just curious if they can burrow in sand or not.

Don't think so. Nothing wrong with planaria though...you will get them here and there. As long as you don't feed too much they'll never be a problem.

Yeah it just means takwe better care, but I feel like sand is just overall easier, because it be harder for them to be an issue..
