sand vs. gravel and planaria

I heard from someone today that with a sand substate, planaria are unable to burrow underneath. (They do have basic movement) and with gravel, they can wiggle all into the crevices. Any truth to this?
I will say I've never seen planaria in a sand tank
 
Don't think so. Nothing wrong with planaria though...you will get them here and there. As long as you don't feed too much they'll never be a problem.
 
Yeah it just means takwe better care, but I feel like sand is just overall easier, because it be harder for them to be an issue..
