I think it depends on the cichlid... Maybe try 1 cheaper snail before investing any money into it.

I'm gonna say the snails will get eaten and the lonsters can work but there's always a risk that the lobster may catch and kill a small fish or the bigger cichlids will kill the lobster when he molts. It can work but I wouldn't risk it with cichlids.

My Haps would always dig through the sand, eat the MTS and other snails I would put in the tank but my Thorichthys don't even seem to notice them.
