I would not use the ammonia trick I have heard that it is difficult to remove the residues left over and the compounds are NOT the same . I would just add the rock that should be enough to kick start the cycle , a cycle can last up wards to 8 weeks but no need for fish , or ammonia as the rock will have enough decay to kick start it ...
