oka so now could someone please tell me what a seeded material is and is it just a filter that's been used and has dirt on :confused:doubt that's what it is lol but I need to know everything I need to do and if I need anything to help with the cycle or anything like that thanks

beneficial bacteria process the ammonia from fish waste and turn it into nitrites and then nitrates, which are less harmful to fish. these beneficial bacteria live for the most part in your filter media. when you take a portion of media from an established tank, that is called seeded media. this seeded media can be added to your filter to help establish a colony of bacteria. however, they need a source of ammonia to survive.

There is a sticky in this section of the forum about cycling a tank and different options you have as to how to start the cycle and feed the BB (beneficial bacteria).
