Tank size for Boesemani rainbow fish

I recently purchased a trio of Boesemani rainbows, one male 2 females, and I have them in a 3 foot long 30 gallon tank. The person at my local fish store said they should be fine in that size tank but I am reading online they need at least a 55... they are about 3 inches So I assume they are still young. Will they be ok in a 30 gallon?

They will be ok for a short time but they get to be 5 inches, so they really need a bigger tank.

They are fast and swim a great deal while male chases the females. I had them in my 72G 4' long tank and that was just enough. Felt they would have enjoyed a longer tank more.
