What fish to get!!

Some of these were already mentioned but here's a list of fun options you could research:

German blue ram
Bolivian ran
Apistogramma (cacatuoides and borellii are good beginner types)
Pearl gourami
Angel fish
Kribensis
Congo tetras

All of these would work in a peaceful community tank with tetras, cories, etc.

He is right, you should go with a tropical community aquarium, which include gouramis, Guppies, rainbowfish, swordtail, small barbs and small catfish which you already have

cichilds will eat those tetras and killing them at the same time.

Some cichlids work fine in community tanks. Rams, kribs, apistos are good community friendly cichlids. Not to mention angelfish as well.

You need to be careful of ur using cichild because they can be territorial

Not every chichlid is agressive and no good in a community tank, Rams and angelfish are chichlids but commonly seen in a community tank with no problems whatsoever
