What species is this and is it a female or male

I am not really an expert in African cichlids but it looks like a male Aulonacara to me. Commonly called a "Peacock" One of the red variants.

At least until someone with more experience pipes in.

Definitely a male peacock, but I've been out of the larger africans for some time so that's all the help I can give.

It will be very plain, but juvies have the same coloration

Oh can any color peacocks bread I'm a newbie I have 4 blotched 1 yellow lab 1 peacock 2 convicts and another unknown species
What do you think it is he's got a really nice color doesn't show up on camera
