The stock is:
5 X Discus
19 x Black Neon Tetras
5 X Sterbai Corys
2 x Polkadot Loaches

I'd say the tank is about full now :)

A golden nugget plec is a nice addition for a discus tank. I have one in with my discus and they get on really well. The gn only gets to 8" so are not to big and they look fantastic. Just a thought!

I was avoiding plecs as I heard they go after the discus's slime. But it sounds like its working ok for you.

Never had a golden nuggets plecs before. They do look great and size is small enough for a 70 gal. Are they ok with live plants?

The golden nugget does not even look at the live plants, he has a nice sized piece of bog wood all to himself. As long as you provide him with some wood off some sort to rasp on he will leave your plants well alone. The GN is quite a shy fish when I first put him in my tank with the discus he used to swim away whenever the discus came close. The discus were very intrigued by the GN and they used to scare him off, sometimes they would give him a little nip but nothing to harm him, this only last a few days, after that they left each other alone and are now happy together. Like I say a GN is quite a shy fish and I made the mistake of putting algae flakes right I front of him. This this made him very lazy and we never saw him for about 3 weeks. I stopped feeding the flake. Now he is out all the time. ;-) cuz they are a small plec they will not go after the slime coat on the discus. I know plenty of people who have them with discus.

I have to say that your tank looks great and all your fish are absolutely gorgeous! I really like the loaches. Nice pictures too. :)

thanks! it's a work in progress but i'm quite happy with the way it looks now. there's still room for improvement though ;).

the loaches are great fun.

Your welcome to the input mate, that's why we're all here. If we can share our interests and experiences with someone else and learn from others ourselves then it's all good. Keep us updated on the tank. You have done a great job so far. Tank and fish look great.

Here are some off my discus that I have in my tank. Hope you like them. They seem to be doing well. I will try and get a pic of the GN when he stays still long enough lol.

Payterot

Are you referring to my discus? That's a marlboro red discus, slightly different than a Mellon. A really stunning fish.

wow. nice photos. your fish look great. very strong coloring. what are you feeding those guys? mine are still not eating well, except for live bloodworms which they were use to getting at the lfs. but I want to get them eating pellets.

I see you went with a dark substrate in your tank too. Looks good.

Thanks i'm really pleased with them. yea I went with the black sand substrate as the tank came with a black background. It really makes the colours of the fish stand out. As to food, I feed them 3 times a day. In the morning they have 2 cubes of frozen blood worm, lunch time I give them tetra prima and at night I give them 2 cubes of brine shrimp and garlic. I only do this 3 times a week on the other days I feed a small amount of discus pro twice a day. They seem to be doing really well. I turn all filters off for about 20 minutes while they eat then put them back on. I just find as I run 2 fairly large external filters that the food gets sucked up the intake pipe. A it's a waste of money and B it will add to the bio load in the filter and I don't want that. The fish eat all the food that goes in and I have a few black fin cory's as clean up crew.

I like to vary their food so they don't get stuck on one thing which can happen.

It was sold to me as a marlboro red from a very reliable discus specialist.

Do you not agree?
What's your experience with discus? I would be interested to hear your opinion. Thanks.
