Last night I watched my guppy have about 25 little baby fish. She was in the acrylic maternity, and the little fish fell through the slits and were swimming just fine underneath. After she finished giving birth, I moved her to a separate container, so any little fish swimming up the grate would not be eaten. The maternity has a lid, and is floating in a quiet corner of the 55gal tank. The other fish could not get in there, and the babies could not get out.
All was great until this am, mom was fine and everything. But when I looked, there was only one baby in the maternity, and no sign whatsoever of the other babies. No remains. Nothing. What in the world happened to them?!
