Anyone kept these before? Are they as hostile as they're made out to be? Ever attempted to keep them in a community tank?

In my experience, this species is hardy and is just as aggressive as any mbuna species.

I have one in my African Cichlid tank. He's pretty aggressive, but no more than my socolofi, or lethrinops intermedius. I get away with it because I have an overstocked all male tank, and got them all as Juvies. I have a few adults, but most are still growing.
I think it would be a good idea if you have a larger number 1. If the Makobe becomes the dominant fish, it could be trouble. Mine is number 3/4.

I got mine from THEM! I actually live about 15 minutes from their shop. They have a great stock. I got mine about 2 months ago. $35, but worth it, I wanted one for a long time.
I went through a few P. Nyererie trying to find a good red one. I had a python island fry, (didn't know until he grew) and an SP35. My Makobe from livefishdirect.com is my favorite by far.
