If you search "sexing yellow lab cichlid" you will find that it is not cut and dry. These cichlids are not sexed using the egg spot, as some others.
An example of what others say about sexing:
This fish is not an easy one to sex, males generally have more black on the pelvic and anal fins while females have little to none. It is said that males grow slightly larger than females. Males are more aggressive and you can sometimes pick them out by the way they are displaying and attacking each other. These methods of sexing are all a bit of a gamble though.

I agree with Menagerie. Sexing does not always include the egg spots. There are several Africans that can not be sexed due to the spotting. The blackness or ventine is really the only way to sex them and you have to wait until maturity until they can be determined. I have a Lab that appeared to be a female due to the blackness. After about 6 months the blackness increased and now appears to be a male. Unless you plan on breeding them, I wouldn't worry about the sex. Labs are pretty docile.

ya i did notice that 1 did have alot more black on its fins so hes a male then alrighrt thanks
