Im starting to have algae grow on my media when will I be able to add fish to my 6g?

How ling has it been cycling? If you have algae growth on a newer tank before getting fish you should get a clean up crew, (snails hermits ect.)

What kind or algae? I would figure out why your having an algae problem to begin with. A crab wont fix the problem. He may help in cleaning some up but the algae will grow back as long as it has light and nutrients. Limiting the nutrients is what you need to do.
What are your nitrates and phosphates?
