Have finally managed to get my sump up and running, bu I am now wondering how long I should wait to put the cheato in and try to introduce copepods or should I do this once the tank is cycled?

Once your tank is cycled throw em in and you may not need to seed pods if you bought live rock. They will populate a refugium very quickly on their own especially if your DT does not have an active pod predator like a mandarin.

I intend to have a mandarin eventually. I heard it takes a month for them to establish so was just wondering if I would be able to get them established over the cycling period but thanks

And that is still if. I have a 55 reef w/ 20 sump that had a fuge in it. I could never get my pods to take off. I just buy more when the BOGO pod deals appear off reefs2go, which is usually monthly, to feed my mandarin and he is still going strong and fat. It gets expensive though.
