Red Slime????

My aquaruim has apparently what is called red slime, I am treating it, but dont know what it is, could someone explain it and what it does, thanks

Probably cyano. This is common amonst new tanks that are still high in nurtients. You can use a hose to syphon the slime out of the tank. Feed less and increase your frequecy of water changes and the cyano should go away by itself over time.
