30 gallon, heavily planted. Runs at between 5 and 10 ppm nitrate with fertilizers. Drops to zero without. Aquaclear 30 and an Aquaclear 50. Weekly water changes, 50%.

I have 2 bristlenose plecos, 4 platy, 10 guppies. Could I safely add a school of rasbora or should I let it be?

Thanks for any opinions!

Ok sry. Bristle nose will get 5 inches. Use the site AqAdvisor recommended by this community/site.

My bn catfish would be about 4 inches long for the males. Female probably 3 inches. I've found the males don't really socialise and like their own cave so might be that if you have two males you are at the limit there.

They are a male and female. Lots of hidey holes. They actually hang out together frequently.

My BN doesn't ever come out. He's a hermit (come ON Theodore, I'm not asking much!)

Anyway, OP I think you would be pushing it adding any more fish. You could maybe reduce your guppy pool to make room. Just an idea.

Was already eyeballing the guppies. I think I will leave things alone. I like where it is and there is plenty of activity. Thanks!

In my opinion you could add a small school of rasboras (5-6)

But maybe remove one of the plecos ? Than its a perfect stock !

Your choice :)

Those plecos will poop A LOT. I only had one BN in my 36 gal and rehomed her because my nice clean sand was covered in poop within 24 hours of vacuuming it all up.
I think you could do a school of 6-8 rasboras or small tetras.
Just remember your guppies will quickly overpopulate if you have mixed genders.

The plecos are a bioload hog! However, my two little spaz-babies are here to stay. They are the tank comedians.

The guppies seem to come and go, holding steady on their own at 10-12 adults. If they ever overrun, my LFS will gladly take them. I could remove the females. That would limit their numbers and leave ample room for a school of rasbora.

Right now I am leaning towards leaving the tank be. It works and everyone is healthy.
